    Biography

    David C. Wilson, Ph.D., is currently the associate dean for the social sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware. He holds faculty positions Political Science and Internal Relations; Psychological and Brain Sciences; and Black American Studies.  A national expert in public opinion and polling research, he is the Coordinator of Public Opinion Initiatives at the University’s Center for Political Communication and serves on the editorial board of Public Opinion Quarterly, the world’s leading public opinion journal. He has more than 50 publications, and has given over 50 lectures and presentations at universities and professional conferences.

    Professor Wilson specializes in survey research methods and experiments, political psychology, and American politics, with an emphasis on political behavior. Prior to his work at UD, he held senior positions with the Gallup Polling Organization, and worked on several national surveys examining topics ranging from workplace creativity to prejudice in politics.

    He holds life memberships in several organizations including the American Political Science Association, the International Society for Political Psychology, Pi Alpha Alpha National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration, the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.

    Professor Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in government from Western Kentucky University, MPA (public policy and administration) and MA (political science) degrees, and a PhD in political science, all from Michigan State University.

    Professor Wilson is also a military veteran having served 19 years, including combat tours for Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Claiming Nashville, TN, as his home town, he spends his spare traveling, mountain hiking, road bike cycling, and playing racquetball.
